Films from Hong Kong & China Back to Startpage

The often Hyper Kinetic Hong Kong film were one of the main reasons why I in 2001 started this film site. I had already imported my
favourite HK films for a year then. Films, who at that time
besides John Woo, Jackie Chan and some kung fu were mostly unknown in
the West. New HK film, The Golden Era films appr. 1985-1993 and some older ones. Crime-Action, wuxia swordplay and martial arts,
comedies and the delightfully unhinged and infamous Category 3 sleaze-horrors.
Here in Sweden some film companies actually did release some Hong Kong and asian films on DVD finally, BUT rarely the best and
most divinely inspired of the films from the Golden Era.
A trend in China/Hong Kong film Post 2010 seems to be a Tsunami of Neo-Wuxia films with a regrettable overuse of CGI effects.
Hong Kong filmmakers also has to adapt to the Mainland censorship rules nowadays, so some of the Bite from the Good Old days
may be missing. On this page i will highlight some of my favourite films from the still great HK film industry and the China one, who
churns out some great films also despite the censorship. On my HK Classics Golden Era Page you can look up some of the older films
