Yes, Madam ! (1985)

Hong Kong Fortune Star's Re-mastered DVD version of this Female
Fighting classic from Corey Yuen Kwai - Region All

Sensational film "debut" by Michelle Yeoh (her second film) and Cynthia Rothrock
and the film that kickstarted the Female Fighters with Guns genre.
The modern genre then as there had been female Wuxia heroines before and also
japanese women with swords hacking their way through the world before. But,
after "Yes Madam" Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Rothrock, Cynthia Khan, Moon
Lee and Yukuri Oshima et al. shot and kicked their way for 10 exciting years before
all the fun was over. The film mixes amazing never seen before female action with
unholy burlesque and unfunny HK comedy from action master Corey Yuen.

This film was a big HIT and the epic breakthrough for the lovely Michelle Yeoh
and also for Martial arts goddess Cynthia Rothrock. Cynthia and Michelle both
explodes on the screen and Rothrock as rockhard "The Nasty Foreign Chick"
who likes to punch everyone she meets. She's extremely choleric and has a
penchant for violence and, I love it, her cantonese dubber gives it her everything
and shouts Cynthia's lines like snappy bullets. Love Cynthia's cantonese.

Michelle is police inspector Ng in a dynamic duo with British Carrie Morris
(Rothrock) and they hunt the crime boss Tin and a microfilm. Everything leads
up to a legendary classic final, the ending fight between Tin and his henchmen
and Ng & Morris and the insane fight goes on .... and on, OMG it's so great.
Just look at and enjoy the many falls from both the actors and the stuntmen.
Those über great stuntcrews that today are substituted by crappy CGI.

The film starts in High gear with hero cop Ng (Yeoh) catching a flasher and
then in a shoot-out hindering a robbery of valuables in an armored truck.
Quality high octane action from Corey Yuen, but then it's a lot of Un-Funny
Slapstick comedy too involving the petty criminals Strepsil (John Sham),
Aspirin (Man Hoi) and Panodil (Tsui Hark, better known as a film director)
and Sammo Hung and Richard Ng can be seen in cameo performances.

Some 30 minutes before Cynthia enters the film, but what an entry - wow!
After that she steals every scene she's in.
Michelle Yeoh wasn't as prominent in martial arts as the world champion
Rothrock but with her ballet background and her serious training in martial
arts also Michelle show great agility in the amazingly choreographed fights.
The whole film is a build-up to the fantastic finale, and today I remember
Yes, Madam! for the Finale and for Cynthia's arrival to the Airport.

Film presented in 1.85:1 ratio with Cantonese audio DTS or 5.1 0r 2.0 with
english subtitles (or mandarin dub 5.1)
