Chihiro travels with her parents by car on their way to their new countryside
house, but they take some side-road and finally find
themselves in front of a strange tunnel which lead them to a grassy
landscape with a seemingly deserted town. A closed theme park
her father says, but it's really a world of spirits and magic.
Her parents eats of the food in one of the market stalls
and are transformed into pigs, as the food were meant to be eaten by
the Gods.
The Shintoism Gods ? Chihiro is on her own now and has to manage in
this new strange spirit world.
She meets the boy Haku, really a River God, lots of strange creatures,
Yubaba (the Baba Yaga) Witch, the lonely faceless monster etc.
I thought the film to be overloaded with things and
creatures moving around and with an incoherent story going all over
the place,
BUT it's beautifully animated and i enjoyed it because of the visuals
alone.
I liked the short Lyrical part, when the hysteria took a pause, when
Chihiro travels by train along with The Lonely Faceless Monster
The film is presented in widescreen 1.85:1 with japanese audio 5.1 DTS-HD
MA with swedish subtitles, region B Blu-ray
