Another hard to define but wild and crazy 1990's movie.
A some sort of Deranged
Love Story with action, violence and black comedy. The actors seems
to have fun
and Rosie Pérez, Javier Bardem and James Gandolfini are great.
Almost everyone in this film is a scumbag and Spanish Cult director
Alex De La
Iglesia (Accion Mutante and The Day of the Beast) pours on the violent
scenes.
This Guy Richie and Tarantino 1990's style of filmmaking are long gone
though.
This film takes place on both sides of the US - Mexican
border where scumbag
Romeo Dolorosa (Bardem) picks up scumbag Perdita Durango (Pérez)
and they
become lovers. Romeo robs bodies from graveyards to use in his Santeria
magic sessions where devotees pays money to see his antics. Romeo's
assistant
Adolfo is played by legendary musician Screamin' " I put a spell
on You" Jay
Hawkins, who also sings during the end credits.

Perdita is also an amoral beast and talks Romeo into
the kidnapping of two US
teenagers, to rape, torture and to use as human offering in Romeo's
Santeria
ceremonies. But, Romeo owes money to a Mexican Cartel and a narcotics
agent
from Dallas, Woody Dumas (James Gandolfini) are chasing Romeo and Perdita.
