A great 1970's conspiracy thriller classic by Alan J.
Pakula, or maybe more of a Cult
Movie as this film has been very hard to find on a DVD or Blu-ray.
But now, finally, in 2024 it's available in a Blu-ray edition. A forgotten
Conspiracy
thriller about a journalist, Joe Frady (Warren Beatty) who, together
with a group of
people witnessed the assassination of a presidential candidate.
But where there a second shooter or not ?
The assassination scene and the chase after the shooter
takes place on the top of
The Seattle Space Needle and it looks spectacular without nowadays CGI.
I watched this film at the cinema as a youngster (yeah, and that means
that i'm
very old) and what I remember from then are the amazing Set-Scenes in
the film.
The Space Needle chase, the Dam scene and the Boat scene.
This film's political content from the
paranoic 1970's feels more contemporary and
topical than ever, today in 2024 with murder attempts
on politicians and journalists
and just about everyone that challenges the ruling elites.
But, with one important exception, that the press then, in 1974 was
free and a threat
to the elites and not as today in 2024 when the Press and the Media
are tools.
The Story: Journalist Joseph Frady (Beatty) is attending
a political rally for an
independent presidential candidate at the top of the Seattle Space Needle,
and
he's a witness to the assassination of the POTUS hopeful.
Three years later Frady is visited by Lee, an ex-girlfriend and a colleague
(great
performance by Paula Prentiss). She's very nervous and tells him that
six people
that attended the rally have been killed.
She feels like she's followed and wonders if they saw something at the
rally that
they weren't supposed to have seen ? As a second shooter ?
With a nod to the 1960 classic "The Manchurian Candidate"
Frady starts to
wonder if there is a conspiracy going on.
The film is presented in widescreen 2.35:1 with english audio DTS-HD
MA 2.0
and with english subtitles, region B. Extra a Trailer and Teaser plus

Who played the second shooter at the Space Needle and
briefly seen outside
the Parallax institute ? To me it looked as Bruce "Mr. Wint"
Glover, but if so
uncredited and I may be wrong. Not mentioned anywhere
