Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1971)

US Scream/Shout Factory Blu-ray edition
- region A

Let's Scare Jessica to Death is like if Herk Harvey's "Carnival of Souls" met
Robert Altman's "Images"
. And I love both of these artier films.

When a mentally fragile woman, Jessica moves into a country Connectitut
house we get an impressive low budget psychological art horror.
With a fantastic performance from Zohra Lampert as Jessica this film
obviously has gained some cult status.
But I had never heard about it or of anyone of the actors, probably theatre
actors. Zohra Lampert's performance stands out.

A woman, Jessica, and her husband Duncan (Barton Heyman) are travelling
around in a Hearse with their friend Woody (Kevin O'Connor). Duncan has
bought a house in the country and a drifter, hippie-ish Emily are invited to
join them in the house.
But Jessica hear voices only she can hear and has strange sightings of
people only she can see, and if this wasn't bad enough for her mental
state the locals acts strangely and aggressively. Who's Abigail Bishop?
