At first: YEEEEES! Finally a new film from my favourite anime
director the un-tamable wild talent Umetsu.
The Anime Legend behind the Controversial Sex and Violence Masterpieces Kite
and Mezzo Forte.
However, this is a weird film with a couple of different and seemingly un-matchable
stories mixed into one.
BUT! This is Umetsu after all, so it's still very enjoyable in a deliciously
visual, stylish sort of way.
Is this a pilot to an eventual new series? If so, that could explain the strange
storyline and abrupt ending.
A very loose continuation of his theme from the 1998 Kite, the
very controversial Sex & Violence explosion.
Shy Highschool-girl Monaka (voice: Marina Inoue) lives at her uncle, due to
her father being an astronaut on
a space station mission. She works extra at nights at a sleazy cafe with lots
of pervert guests, and her boss
could be a nice man or a monster, we don't know for sure yet. Her fellow waitress
is single mom Ms. Mukai.
So far, so good, but then Monaka (even later at night i guess,
she must be sleepy at school) also is a professional
killer, The Angel of Death that
does away with free un-convicted murderers and rapists, after which she
spreads a cloud of white feathers as her sign. And then her father crasch-lands
on earth turned to a monster from
nutrition experiments and/or cosmic radiation. She's gets into the ensuing wild
chase and then.....the film ends!?
What? What did i just see? Anyway, i want to see more. Please
Mr. Umetsu, give us the rest too
