I had never heard of this film (until I watched it now
in 2026) and I thought it would be
some sort of a Highschool Comedy. And, after a start resembling such
a teenage type
comedy this film turned out to be a very entertaining Spy-Chase Thriller
with some
comedy. Gotcha! also was unexpectedly suspenseful.
And, the best thing about the movie, the chemistry between Edwards and
Fiorentino
are great. I expected a stupid trashy movie and was very pleasantly
surprised.
Besides Anthony Edwards being fine and likeable we have
the always exciting Cult
actress Linda Fiorentino as the mysterious woman Sasha, and she's great.
I loved her also in the 1994 Cult Neo-Noir thriller "The Last Seduction"
as a smart
and ruthless Femme Fatale roaming the night like a Black Panther out
for prey.
Youthful looking Edwards plays the naive student Jonathan who has a
hard time
getting laid or even getting a date. He's going on a vacation to Paris
with his buddy
Manolo (Nick Corri). In a café Jonathan is picked up by an attractive
woman who
says she's Czechoslovakian. Her name is Sasha and she says sh likes
young boys
as the 18 year old Jonathan.
She talks (lures) him into following her to East Berlin (when the wall
was still up)
and hooked on the hot sex he goes and is dragged into her Spy stuff.
