The Great Wang Baoqiang
The one and only, rubberface Wang Baoqiang,
is back as Detective Tang Ren in the sequel to Detective Chinatown,
the Chinese comedy Hit.
The film is an enjoyable Crime Mystery Action Comedy filmed in New York
and it looks really nice and it must have had a big budget.
Wang Baoqiang (born in 1984) is a versatile actor that manages burlesque
comedy as well as serious roles in art movies and i first saw him
in the 2003 amazing indie crime thriller "Blind Shaft"
where he plays the naive young guy who's planned to die in a coalmining
accident in
a scheme to gain money from the owner of the privately run mine. He
was great and made you feel really, really worried for his safety in
the film.
Blind Shaft is one of my favourite Chinese films, and China Noir at
it's best.
I've also seen him in another great and gritty crime noir drama, in
Jia Zhangke's 2013 hailed "A Touch of Sin" as well as in Huang
Bo's quirky but
interesting "The Island", and .... Wang is hilarious in Stephen
Chow's 2019 comedy "The New King of Comedy". He's a favourite
actor of mine.

Detective Chinatown came in 2015 and was a huge success
and this great sequel made in 2018 was a Super HIT also, and in 2020
there's a
Detective Chinatown 3 a-coming too. I've only seen this film - DC 2
- in the series yet, but i would like to see the others too, because
of Wang.
OK, it's totally stupid fun so peg down your brain to "Infantile
person" level and it will be perfectly fine. Hey, it could be worse
as pegging it
down all the way to "Reptile Brain mode" when watching Wrestling
Women circus or Slutty Cheerleaders Go To Hell movies.

Tang Ren (Wang Baoqiang) has lured over his younger
distant cousin Chin Fong/Qin Feng (Haoran Turbo Liu) to attend his wedding
in NY.
But, as super smart Chin Fong soon deduces, he really wants Fong over
to help him solving a crime case. Why?
Chin Fong is ranked No. 2 in the world Computer Detective Game "Crime
Master" and also a top student at the Chinese Police Academy.
The Godfather of Chinatown, Uncle Seven (Kenneth Tsang) has invited
all the world's leading Crime Master detectives (except the mysterious
No. 1) to solve the murder of his son. They've one week to crack the
case and nab the murderer and to be awarded 5 million US dollars.
At first a guy named Song Yi (Xiao Yang) is suspected but when he's
freed of suspicions he joins Tang Ren and Fong in their hunt for the
killer and a Detective Chinatown Super Trio is formed. Natasha Liu plays
the NY police officer in charge of the case
The Hong Kong DVD presents the film in anamorphic widescreen
with a mandarin audio (and with some english) DD 5.1 with english subtitles
and with a Trailer. Region 3
