Yes, what to say about the 1980's Erotic drama or thriller genre, often
with hideous clothes and a wailing saxophone heard on the
soundtrack. With lots of awful simulated softcore sex, if that even, in
Hollywood films the males always wear their trousers on and
are shot from behind when doing it, but the women can be seen topless
or if in an italian movie like this fully nude.
In regular mainstream movies the sex scenes often are skipped over completely,
and Hollywood could be right here for this once
as Sex in film or in fiction most often is terribly cringy, it rarely
works. But due to the sudden, and inexplainable, popularity of the
Sex Thriller or Drama in the 1980's Hollywood had a try too.
In Italy the Italian film industry had it's Golden Era in the 1960's and
1970's and some genres as the Spaghetti Western, the Horror,
the Eurocrime and the Gialli swept the world and have a devoted Cult following
world-wide today (i'm writing this in December
2020 and the gialli could be my favourite genre). But Two Italian
genres that were much beloved in Italy .... and Nowhere else,
were the Comedies (often with sexy moments) and the Sex Dramas.
I've tried watching some of these (Lucio Fulci also made them, comedies
in the 60's and the awesome "The Devil's Honey" in the
80's) and they were almost unwatchable, AWFUL, with humour totally inscrutable
and opaque for any viewer not Italian, and
with the only thing going for them being one or another sexy actress as
Laura Antonelli and Edwige Fenech in the 1970's or in the
1980's .... Serena Grandi. She appeared in the sex movies of Tinto Brass
and was something of his muse, she made an impact in
Lamberto Bava's sleazy 1987 giallo "Delirium/Le Foto di Gioia"
and she played the for having sex unsatiable Giulia in this 1986 Sex
Drama "Desiderando Giulia". Serena Grandi was
a beautiful plumper with huge boobs, and a pretty good actress in this
film.

The Zzzzzz.....boring story of this film:
Writer Emilio (Leysen) lives with his unhappy sister Amalia
(Valeria D'Obici) in a big apartment in Rome. He sees and gets
erotically obsessed with a busty woman, Giulia, a model. He courts her
and finally they start having Sex, a lot of it and everywhere.
But, Giulia has a lot of men around her and she has sex with whom she
want and whenever she want.
This clashes with the more bourgeois ways of Emilio and he's jealous and
miserable. His sister has an affair with Emilio's friend
and possibly publisher Stefano (Sergio Rubini, good in a minor role) gets
dumped and then committs suicide.
This film plays out like a B movie Art Erotic Drama, it's
depressing and with the highlights being when Serena Grandi is Nude
and not awful as a slightly trashy drama. Serena Grandi is nude a lot
thankfully, and she seems to act pretty well.
This DVD had no english subtitles so i'm not sure about the twists and
turns in their love affair. Who cares about Emilio ?
He was dull and violent towards Giulia, and yes she provoked him but you
don't hit a woman. Surely she was much better
off with her previous life and her friends and lovers. Bla, bla, yada
yada, OK - i bought it for the sleeve, i confess.
The German DVD presents the film in anamorphic widescreen
ratio of 1.85:1, with an italian audio DD 2.0 and with only german
subtitles, and with an italian and a german trailer as extra.
I can't speak either italian or german, but i've found that german subtitles
can be partly read by a swede with a little effort
