The Black Windmill (1974)

Spanish Divisa Universal 2021 Blu-ray edition

Don Siegel, the legendary crime action director behind some of my favourite films as the 1971 "Dirty Harry", the 1973 "Charley Varrick" (Fallgropen)
and the sadly forgotten 1964 noir "The Killers" with Lee Marvin, John Cassavetes and Ronald Reagan as a bad guy in his last acting role.
But with the 1974 "The Black Windmill" Siegel is not in that form anymore and here he gives us a so-so crime thriller with a sleepwalking Michael
Caine as a British secret agent on the hunt for a gang of brutal kidnappers.

Nasty kidnappers take agent John Tarrant's (Caine) son as hostage and demands a huge ransom in uncut diamonds. These to be taken from the
resources of the Agency, but when this is denied by i.a. Tarrant's boss Cedric Harper (Donald Pleasance, always nice to watch) Major Tarrant
has to act on his own to free his son.
