A Greek Giallo, that's not something you see every day
and even though the greek actors and the director also
has got english aliases, the greek surroundings is recognizable and
gives the film some interesting atmosphere.
Even though most of the actors act in a stiff way and sounds and looks
like they're reading their lines from cue
cards, there are a lot of murders, beautiful actresses and an unhinged
killer played in an interesting way by
Vagelis Seilinos. It's filmed around Athens and based on a real crime
case that happened in Cavouri outside of
Athens in 1971, a sex murder in a Lover's Lane
Vagelis Seilinos as the killer
The Film starts with a man, Mike (Vagelis Seilinos)
attacking a couple in a car. They're making out in some forest
area, in a Lover's Lane, and he murders the man and then rapes and kill
the woman.
Next, we see the same man, Mike, down in the harbour spying on the people
partying on a yacht. Why ?
Also, there's a blond woman spying on the people on the anchored yacht.
Why ?
Laura with the Eyes
So, here comes the Spoilers .... Beware if you actually
cares about the story in this B-giallo
.......................................................................................
.......................................................................................
The Couple that owns the beautiful ship, they're Captain Jim or James
Preston (Lakis Komninos) and his
wealthy wife Helen (Dorothy Moore) and they will go on a cruise soon.
The blonde spying on them, that's Laura
(Jane Paterson) and she's the secret girlfriend of Captain Jim (and
she's got amazing eyes, se pic above, sigh ...).
But why is the sex killer Mike spying on Jim .... Jim, with a VERY wealthy
wife that has got all the money in
their relationship. Not too hard to figure out i guess. As in most Gialli,
who get's the money if someone does get
murdered? But there's a small twist here as the Sex killer maniac may
have a scheme of his own.
It's very B in all ways, but it's enjoyable. The mysterious
doctor, once a boyfriend to Helen, may be the worst
"actor" ever seen in a giallo ? The Policemen looks like they've
escaped from an Ed Wood Jr. movie.
Plus factors are 1. Mike as the killer, he's nasty and sweaty, 2. Helena
and Laura, beautiful actresses, 3. Lakis
Komninos, yes, he's stiff but he's the slick goodlooking type for the
role, like a greek George Hilton
There's an english dub and a greek one (i listened to
the english) in 2.0 mono with english subs.
Jim is called Dmitris in the greek dub and Helen is called Eleni in
the ditto.
Format ? Not stated anywhere, maybe 4:3? Extras: A Crime in Cavouri
