The Sicilian Clan (Le Clan des Siciliens, 1969)

US Kino Lorber Studio Classics 2 disc Blu-ray 2 edition

Disc One: The French International 125 minutes version

Disc two: The 118 minutes US version

Should this film be listed on my Cult and Classics film page or on my Gialli and Eurocrime page ? It's mostly french as the director and the
main actors are french but the film was co-produced between France and Italy, and the soundtrack was by Ennio Morricone, and also shot
in english, so I add it to my Gialli and Eurocrime film page. And what a trio of heavyweight actors in the same film, wow !
This is a GREAT Crime Heist movie with a superb Alain Delon and the legendary Jean Gabin as the Clan and Family leader and old man.

Roger Sartet (Delon) is a brutal criminal that at the start of the film is held captive by the Paris police and interrogated about a jewel store
robbery where he shot and killed two policemen. A daring escape during transport between Police headquarters and jail takes place and
Sartet is yet again free, narrowlingly escaping a probable death penalty, due to his sister Monique (Danielle Volle) paying the Manalese
Family for enabling his escape.
The Manalese crime family or The Sicilian Clan is led by altmeister Vittorio (Gabin) and with his two sons Aldo and Sergio, daughter Teresa
and her husband Luigi, and with Aldo's french pointy boobs wife Jeanne (Irina Demick).

There's a Manhunt for the escaped police killer Sartet led by Lino Ventura's police inspector Le Goff. Sartet is hiding but plans a massive
and daring jewellery heist, "The Mother of all Heists" together with the Manalese family.
The soundtrack by Ennio Morricone is great and he uses a Jew's Harp for the theme, and the same year he used a Harmonica for the very
famous theme of Charles Bronson's avenger in the Sergio Leone western masterpiece "Once Upon a Time in the West".

Kino Lorber presents the film in widescreen 2.35:1 and with an english or french audiotrack with some italian spoken and with english subtitles
This Blu-ray 2 disc edition is an US region A release.
Extras: Documentary Featurette 63 minutes "Legend of the Clan" (french with english subtitles), The Sicilian Clan by Fred Cavaye, Audio
commentary by Howard S. Berger and Nathaniel Thompson AKA The Boring Duo, montage of images, French and US theatrical trailers
