US 20th Century Fox DVD edition
A true cult movie with 2 fine actors in a psychological drama
thriller.
Dennis Pitt (Anthony Perkins) has been released from a mental asylum where he
has been treated after committing an
arson as a teenager. He gets a job at a factory in a small village in Massachusetts,
where he meets the cute cheerleader
soon to be 18 years old Sue Ann Stepanek (Tuesday Weld). She's intrigued by
his exciting and odd behaviour and
wild fantasies and a dangerous and explosive relation - love affair starts between
them.
Anthony Perkins gives the best performance i've seen from him
(yes, i know Psycho was a masterpiece, but i still
think Perkins performance was better here). Anthony Perkins (1932-1992) and
with son Osgood Perkins (born 1974)
an actor and director who has specialized in slow-moving visually beautiful
horror-thrillers, like his 2015 feature film
debut as a director - The Black Coat's Daughter, which i liked a lot (read more
about this film on my Horror pages.
The great Tuesday Weld is nothing else than magnificent and scary as Sue Ann,
and the films title has to do with
her personality. What happened to her career, and what happened to the talented
director Noel Black's ?
Pretty Poison, a cult movie that has earned it's reputation. A great watch it
was.
