In the great John Waters funny comedy melodrama satire of 1950's and
1960's family movies we get to follow the hardships of poor
Francine Fishpaw (Divine) as the harassed 44 year old
housewife. She has an unfaithful pornographer of a husband, an evil
thief as
mother and two deeply disturbed children, the nymphomaniac daughter
Lulu, with her boyfriend Bo-Bo played by punk artist Stiv
Bator (Stiv Bators, a great band and i had some of their records in
the early 80's) and the son, Dexter, a Feet Fetischist and a serial
wanted offender - The Baltimore Foot Stomper. As you can see, funny
demented trash.
Besides these problems Francine also is plagued by a
too good sense of smell, and this DVD and once when shown in cinemas
has/had The Odorama gimmick and when a number is shown
on the screen you has/had to scratch this number on the the Odorama
card. I guess the old Cinema cards could be a collectors item by now
?

Polyester is a cult classic with lots of funny scenes,
as when Francine and her huge friend Cuddles, played by Waters regular
Edith
"Eggwoman" Massey, are trying on an assortment of much, much
to small fancy dresses in an elegant fashion shop, Riiiiip !
Or when the Drive in Cinema are showing three Hits of Marguerite Duras,
ha, ha, ha (Duras, a very, very serious avant-garde film-
maker and author with films hard to watch even by the most intellectual
and pretentious of viewers).
Music by Chris Stein and Debbie Harry of Blondie.
Anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1, english 2.0 stereo or
mono audio, region 1. Audio commentary by John Waters and a Odorama
card
