Malignant (2021)

Nordic Warner Brothers Blu-ray edition - region B

I know that James Wan (the aussie director, screenwriter and producer) has made a lot of Mainstream horrors that have become
huge Hits, as the 2003 "Saw", 2010 "Insidious" and 2013 "The Conjuring" but i still liked this film, 2021 "Malignant" a lot.
Ha, ha, i promise you won't see the solution to this murder mystery and Seattle shot Slasher coming.

Malignant was delightfully Bizarre and Unhinged and just in that slightly trashy 1970's-1980's B movie way that feels so right.
James Wan must be a Retro film fan to make something weird like this, a Frank Henenlotter for the 2020´s and with a budget.
This film was very entertaining, it started so-so with stuff we've seen before but then just gears up and the ongoings gets
wilder and weirder all the time. When the film was over i sat giggling happily and that's always a sign of a film you won't
forget watching easily.

CGI, yes there are a lot of CGI and i hate CGI but many of the most obvious scenes are using it as an alteration of the
surroundings as our protagonist female, Madison, is transferred to the murder locations where the perp is about to strike.
The action with splatter is CGI and i don't like it as it looks crappy, but the "perp" looks nice and with a make-up effect also.

Madison (Annabelle Wallis) lives with her abusive husband in a nasty looking old house. He beats her and then a perp
breaks in and snaps his neck and hits pregnant Madison so hard that she loses her baby. The killer has a telepatic contact
with her and she can see, like in a vision, when the killer kills again.
Madison contacts the police where Police inspector Kekoa (George Young) handles the investigation of the killings, and
also Madison's sister Sydney (Maddie Hasson) is sleuthing around on her own. With the surprise fall through the roof scene
this film really kicks into gear, and the long chase scene was great too. Great stuff !

Zoe Bell can be seen in a small role as a butch female prisoner messing with the wrong person.

The film was presented in anamorphic widescreen with english audio DTS-HD MA 5.1 with swedish subtitles, region B
