Great Crime Drama with a political message about politicians
and other officials on every level eager to line their pockets. A dark
and
depressing film but with truly great acting performances from Franco
Nero, and yet again (as in the 1976 "Con la rabbia agli occhi")
from
Martin Balsam. Our corrupted crap politicians lobbying for eternal war
and bought by the Military Industries and by just about anyone
that are willing to pay them for their services (could be Big Pharma,
Big Oil, Big Banks, The Mafia or whatever) money, money, money!
These scum politicians couldn't care less about what
their constituents want, only what their Masters want. Voters around
the world
don't want War, we want to live our short lives in peace and harmony.
Only the weapons industry wants war. Time to use Guillotine.
Police Captain Giacomo Bonavia
(Martin Balsam) is a cynical cop who fights against the Mafia and who
uses grey methods to do so.
He looks to that a mobster hitman (played by Adolfo Lastretti) is released
from a mental asylum, then follows him, and watches him
massacre some men at a Construction Company, all underlings to the land
property developer Lomunno (Luciano Catenacci).
Captain Bonavia has arrested Lomunno three times but without getting
anywhere.
Bonavia knows that the Bad Guys always win and probably
with their victims buried in the cement of the new building projects.
But the newly baked District Attourney Traini
(Franco Nero) is still idealistic and he firmly believes in the Law
and Justice.
Captain Bonavia tells Traini about the corruption among the City's politicians,
they being deeply involved with property exploiters
as Ferdinando Lomunno, and finally Traini sees how things are too.
Martin Balsam as the tired and cynical middle-aged cop
is brilliant, and Nero is too. Marilu Tolo only has a small part as
the sister of
Lastretti's Hitman and as the ex-girlfriend of Lomunno. Damiano Damiani
was an accomplished film director and this Poliziotteschi
is one of the best of the genre, riveting stuff.
The film is presented in widescreen 2.35:1 ratio and
with english audio DTS-HD MA 1.0 (or in italian audio with german subtitles
only), region B. Extras a German and an US trailer plus an image gallery
and some German other trailers
