A Beautiful Star (Utsukushii hoshi, 2017)

Hong Kong Panorama Corporation Ltd. DVD edition

An often interesting and a bit quirky drama and always well acted, but i found it to be maybe a bit too long and maybe also
a bit too New Age-ish for my taste even though it's a undoubtedly a beautiful film. A little too slick also perhaps.

The film is about the Osugi Family and the revelation that dawn on them, that they really are aliens from other planets.

Mr. Osugi, Yuichiro (Lily Franky, giving a great quirky performance) is a middle-aged TV station weatherman that suspects
that he has been abducted by aliens and that he really is a Marsian. He starts to use this his conviction combined with an
environmental message in his TV appearances - "My Fellow Earth-Dwellers" and the audience thinks it's a Gag and likes it.

Also Mr. Osugi's son Kazuo (Kazuya Kamenashi) starts to believe that he's an alien, a Mercurian, and he works as a messenger
boy who after meeting up with another Mercurian, the Secretary to a Senator, gets a top job in that administration.
The Daughter, Akiko (Ai Hashimoto) thinks she's a Venusian and gets pregnant by a Venusian guitar player.

The film is presented in anamorphic widescreen and with japanese audio DD 5.1 with english subtitles, trailer extra, region 3.
